Last my article, I wrote about the Kanda river.
Today, I'd like to writing the undulation in central Tokyo.
The below image is that.
brown color indicates high lands(20-40m from sea level)
blue do low land(minus - 20m from sea level)
The empire's palace is located in the center of this image.
You can see that Tokyo has developed around the palace.
The Kanda river flows upper part in this picture
(from left to right).
During the Edo era(AD 1600- 1868),
There were several classes there.
The typical groups were Bushi(samuraia warrior) and
Syo-nin(merchant).
Bushi tended to live in the high land, and
Syo-nin tended to live in the low land.
That's because the low land was attacked by
many floods.
That is, segregation by class were present in that time.
